When it comes to cycling with babies and small children one of the most important questions is, how safe are bicycle trailers? On this page, we will be introducing our detailed safety concept for the Croozer Kid models!
If you live in Germany, your child does not need to wear a helmet in the Croozer, because there are no mandatory cycle helmet laws, and the Croozer’s safe passenger compartment offers sufficient protection. Do you live in a different country, or are you planning to use the trailer for holiday activities outside of Germany? Then be sure to look into whether the respective country or state has mandatory helmet laws – if so, then these laws often apply to children riding in bicycle trailers.
Keep in mind that infants riding in the Croozer Baby Seat cannot wear a helmet. With a helmet, it would be too difficult for them to rest their head safely and comfortably against the flat surface of the Baby Seat. Therefore, children should not start wearing a bicycle helmet in the Croozer until they are old enough to sit upright unassisted and no longer have to ride in the Baby Seat.
In general, it is always sensible for children to wear a bicycle helmet – young passengers can get used to wearing one and will learn to associate cycling with helmet use from the very beginning!
